Visiting the CIA

For many high school teachers, the trip to the CIA proved to be an invaluable opportunity to explore resources and make connections to the Cold War curriculum. Teachers found ways to peak students’ interest through a discussion of conspiracy theories, covert operations, and (since declassified) Cold War documents. On site, the teachers had the opportunity to tour the CIA museum and learn about its history from one of the CIA historians.

The CIA website also provides a number of lesson plans that incorporates the CIA’s museum web page and online resources to emphasize history, communication, and problem solving skills and are adaptable to any grade level.
